remus : so, i planned to bring some of the chocolate i had at home so we could share, but i realized i wanted to eat all of it, so i did and told myself i would buy a new chocolate box, for you. except i kinda ate that one too. so i went to buy you some flowers, but i accidently used this money to buy some chocolate again, and i ate it. but in my defense, you knew what you signed up for when you asked me out.

  • after hogwarts, remus is determined to get a job
  • he knows it will be tough, he knows he’ll be treated like garbage, but he had to rely on other people’s charity for too long and he just wants to prove himself
  • lily, peter, james and remus all pretty much immediatly find jobs they love
  • but remus is struggling to even be allowed to be a waiter
  • wizarding jobs immediatly reject him : even with the registry being kept secret, they look at his frequent sick leaves and immediatly make the connection
  • muggle jobs are no easier : people are put off by the thick scars on his face and his mysterious chronic illness
  • and everytime remus sees his boyfriend coming home happy from work, he feels a little lower
  • everytime he cant pay his half of the rant or his part of the grocery shopping, shame creeps up on him
  • james insists on supporting him, claiming that’s it’s just temporary, but it had last for two years now and there is no evidence it’s about to stop
  • it all escalates until he gets a new rejection letter filled with insults and threats and he just breaks down
  • he refuses to get back at home for three entire days, sirius is loosing his shit
  • finally, him and sirius meet to really talk
  • and sirius all but begs him to take a break with the work search and to stop accepting every slur and threat just to get underpaid short stints in terrible conditions
  • remus comes home, and for 6 months he just stays there
  • he’s being the nice stay-at-home husband : cooking and cleaning and gardening and taking care of harry when needed
  • after that, he is hesitant to try to work again, but he is feeling useless just staying at home ( even when sirius reassures him that he is being plenty useful )
  • so he tries volunteering for charities
  • and people are a bit hesitant to take him in, sure, but they need the help
  • he gets to work in charity shops and kitchens, and with kids
  • he loves it, obviously
  • its not perfect : he is still relying on james and sirius’ money, but at least he is doing something
  • he feels so much better, strangely, after an unpaid shift at the charity shop than an underpaid one at a grocery store
  • and eventually, he figures out that he really loves working with kids
  • so harry and a few friends’ kids become the first students of his small unofficial school for magical kids
  • he only has 5 or 6 students, but he is having fun and he is actually getting paid and it’s amazing
  • he still doesnt make much, but he is paying his entire part of the bills for the first time
  • and he can even occasionally get sirius or his friends a present and hes so proud everytime and I HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS ABOUT THIS OKAY

Remus Lupin has two moods, okay ? “I dont give a fuck” and “I give a fuck about everything in the world”

  • in the first one, you can be sure the boi is gonna be fucking stoned like 82% percent of the time, all homeworks are done last minute, casual pranking is happening, there is much much sleeping, he eats garbage in his bed, his dorm is a right mess, he put on whatever clothes he finds ( which is how he happens to wear sirius too tight jeans by accident, a memory sirius will cherish forever ), he can probably spend days without any human contact, he can be pretty rude and reckless without thinking about it, his libido gets a bit higher, depression naps™, hating himself for his laziness but not having the strengh to do anything, staring at nothing for hours
  • peter and james are the one who helps the most then. peter asks his help for homeworks to trick him into doing his, subtly hiding his chocolate and weed when remus is really abusing them, pulling him by the lake so he can get some fresh air, play with him in his rat form ( the other marauders often join in ) and read him books so his mind can be active once in a while. james goes full mother hen mode : cooking him vegetables and fruits, forcing him to take showers and wash his hair, make him revise his lessons and stops him for burying himself under three thousands blankets and hibernate
  • in the second mode, everything depends on him and everything is his fault. sleep ? i dont know her. he overworks himself to death, take extra patrols, clean up everything, forgets to eat, plan bigger and more elaborate pranks, make several rants about how he needs to be on top of everything, actually even exercise sometimes, get angry at people randomly, does random tasks for his friends, read several books a day and overthinks
  • this is sirius’ time to shine. he tries to get him to take naps with him, reassures him that he isnt responsible of everything in the world, feeds the poor boy, distracts him from all the intrusive thoughts happening in his head and makes sure he feels loved and comfortable at all time ( well he tries at least )

the third mood, “I Give an Healthy Amount of Fucks” have never been spotted yet
