21 – “You’re too good for this world”

you didnt ask for any particular pairings, so im doing Jegulus!

Regulus streched his sore muscles, smiling as the sun rays hit his face. Yesterday’s trip in the woods to collect more potion ingredients had left him quite tired and achy, as his body wasn’t as lean and fit as it once were, in his youth.

“Morning honey!” James pushed the door and gently put down a breakfast tray on the the bed. He leaned forward and kissed his husband on the nose. “I went to buy you that pie from next door’s baker you like. Thought about cooking you something myself, but I predicted you wouldn’t feel like eating burnt toast after the day you had yesterday.”

Regulus smiled, lids still only half opened. “You’re too good for this world, you know that?”

James laughed soundly. “I dare you to say that to literally anyone who knows me. I think Lily might actually try to check for confusion spells.”

“She’s just jealous because she knows if she had dated you in Hogwarts, she’ll be waking up to a fabulous breakfast too. Now shut up and kiss me.”

James happily obliged.

The Marauders as Social Networks

James is Facebook. the original one that everyone know and have. thinks is the coolest, is not. still some cool shit happening though, once in a while. have a cool side and a nerd side, bad jokes, some really stupid ones.

Remus is Twitter. witty short answers, and then really long inspiring rants. not as popular but everyone loves it once they try. both great clever observations and opinions and “wher the fuk is my cofee too early fr this shit”

Sirius is Instagram. pretty cool and popular. a lot of selfies. also black and white pictures with deep quotes that represent the tortured soul of the artist. and obviously “LOOK AT THIS STIM IT IS BRIGHTLY COLOURED AND IT MOOVES OMG”

Peter is Pinterest. underestimated and unpopular but you realize once in a while that a lot of good shit comes from here. always ready to help, sometimes clingy ( “we made a SPECIAL BUTTON that appear on every picture you will ever view isn’t that amazing” )

Regulus is Myspace. emo and dead.

regulus black giving kreacher his instructions about how to get back from the cave and to destroy the horcrux, and being about to add “and tell sirius i tried to become a good person”, but not daring to because sirius wouldn’t even care, because he has proved so many times he is unworthy of his big brother

gryffindor against slytherin quidditch match in hogwarts. james has been anxious for weeks. and now it’s happening.

gryffindor is leading 40-10, and he scored three of those goals. he knows it’s too soon to call it a win, but he is getting more and more confident about it. maybe if he wins lily evans will look at him, or even congratulates him !

he hears a noise next to him and almost get hit by the slytherin beater ( who would have called it an accident of course ) he flies higher and intercepts the ball. he throws it at Marlene to catch and…

“SLYTHERIN CAUGHT THE SNITCH ! SLYTHERIN WINS !”

james takes a few seconds to analyze this information, before to consider jumping off his broom right now.

the gryffindor steps go silent. everyone is in shock. they are all starring at their team, in awe

except for one person who stands up and shouts :

“GOOD JOB LITTLE BRO THAT WAS SOME MAD FLYING SKILLS !”

what they saw in the mirror of erised

james : himself, old but still healthy, surrounded by his children and lily at his side, laughing. the marauders are here laughing too, sirius ruffling his hair and probably making fun of them. everyone has a large smile and feel close.
remus : himself, but his scars are gone. his clothes are tidy and look new, his prefect badge still on his robes. sirius is holding his hand and they are staring lovingly at each other
sirius : the marauders all together, chatting and laughing. they are all happy, the heaviness of the war and their trials is gone. they are who they are supposed to be, carefree teenagers with nothing to worry about except but their exams and homeworks
peter : himself, but not quite. he’s taller, and thiner, a bit athletic. he seems more confident too, and is it a hickey on his neck ?
regulus : his whole family, including sirius, is here, but they aren’t fighting. in fact, they seem to be talking and enjoying to be together. he notices there is nothing on anyone’s forearm

none of these ever became true

what if same sex marriage wasn’t allowed in the wizarding world

what if remus and sirius always knew they could never get married like james and lily. and they would pretend it’s all cool but secretely be super disappointed. so one day in seventh year james would get mad and fuck this bullshit they would organize a wedding with rings and peter would be officing, obviously james is sirius’s best man and lily is remus’s. they invite all their friends, and throw the best party hogwarts ever saw and will ever see. remus and sirius were smiling and laughing and blushing. thousands of picture were taken. james and lily had to dance together bc tradition, and there was a lot of blushing here too.

and at the end of the party, as sirius was walking to the kitchen to get remus some chocolate as the lovely husband he was, he crossed regulus.

and even if he couldn’t be sure, he thought he heard him wispering “congratulations”

just imagine

it’s year six for the marauders and moony and padfoot are FINALLY together and all hogwarts is glad that all this sexual tension is resolved.

so they are so lovey dovey that everyone in the castle know about their relationship.

including the slytherins.

including regulus black.

so one day remus is just walking to classes and then the next thing he knows he is being pushed against the wall and threatened with a wand by regulus black.

his first reaction is panic because he knows the black aren’t exactly lgbt+ friendly. but he manages to stay calm and think of a way to get out of this shit.

so he opens his mouth to try to buy time, but before he can regulus is talking.

“listen, i’m not here to hurt you. not unless i have to. but you have to listen to me right now bc i won’t say it twice.’

and then, with a completely straight face, he starts to give remus the "hurt my brother and i will kill you” speech.
