actually, you mainly use “fan” to mean you’re a fan of something (ex : i’m a fan of dr who!)
fanboy/girl/by mostly describe a way of being a fan, more especially the typical passionate fandom-invested fan (ex : i have an entire blog where i post fan theories and fanfictions of dr who, im such a fanby!)
also, even without that distinction, i’ve found that a lot of nb people like me love to have an alternative term for all of the gendered ones (i much prefer describing myself as a wix than “someone who practice witchcraft”)
so actually the reason this term was coined was to make people more comfortable and happy, and if it does then it’s the most important thing 🙂 restraining how many words we can make up is, in my opinion, pointless, bc unneeded words will naturally disappear and the ones that matter will stick around. so only time will tell us if “fanby” was a needed one or not, and debating about it isnt going to change much about it
it was my first day of vacation today and it was nice. i cleaned my bedroom like i wanted to. i saw my godkid’s play, which was adorable. i watched the football/soccer game and we won. i relaxed and read and watched a couple of videos. my cat looks like she’s over her sickness.
idk man life is good for once
me : wow i’ve been feeling kinda numb in these past few days, i hope it gets better soon
my brain : you want to be overemotive is what you want? you want to overreact to everything? cry just because you cant find a shirt you like??? suddenly remember painful memories out of nowhere?????? you wanted emotions i hope you’re ready for E M O T I O N S
Please enjoy some James and Remus hurt/comfort, written for @anxious-andconfused as a thank you for winning my super secret tag contest.
James sticks his head through the dormitory doorway. “Moony? You planning on coming down for dinner any time this century?”
Remus doesn’t look over at James from where he lies on his bed. He flicks his wand lazily up towards the canopy. The stars printed on the fabric swirl around in a winding pattern. “No need,” he says dully. “I’ve got Pete’s stash of pumpkin pasties to keep me going for the rest of the year.”
James raises his eyebrows in alarm. “Don’t eat those! They’re hexed!”
“Not the hexed stash,” Remus says, “the real stash under Sirius’ bed.”
“Oh,“James says as he sits down on the bed gingerly. "That’s alright then.”
Neither boy speaks for a long while. James eases onto his back and lies next to Remus. “I’m guessing your career meeting with McGonagall didn’t go well,” he says tentatively.
“It went fine,” Remus answers in monotone. “Nothing I wasn’t expecting.”
James snorts. “Clearly that’s a lie. If you were expecting it, you wouldn’t be up here moping.”
“I’m not moping!” Remus snaps. “I’m just… ugh!” He closes his eyes and drops his wand. The stars’ sparkle fades away into the fabric.
James doesn’t say anything as he threads his fingers through Remus’ and squeezes them gently.
Remus sighs. “It’s just… here, at school, everything’s so easy. We have our fun every month, we get into scrapes, but we always manage to come out on top. But once we leave school… I won’t be in this bubble anymore. I’ll have to face facts that most people aren’t like you lot.”
“Most people can fuck right off,” James declares. He raises his own wand and charms the stars back to their full brightness. “It doesn’t matter what most people think, Moony. You’ve got us. You’ll always have us.”
Remus smiles as James shifts closer and buries his face in Remus’ curls. The stars trace their way across the canopy into intricate constellations. “You’re right,” Remus says softly. “As long as I’ve got you, things will turn out alright.”
AAAAAAAH THANK YOU SO MUCH
this really is everything i wanted 💛
hell yeah for james being cleverly supportive? but also i cant help but think you added the stars as a way to let us know sirius is always jealously watching 👀👀👀
