What is your ship for Sirius?

This is the one people ask the most about- and do I ship them? Yes. ESPECIALLY considering the fact that my characterizations of Sirius and Remus are based off myself and my boyfriend respectively. But the thing is I don’t really see Remus or Sirius being in a place where they’d be comfortable dating anyone during their time at Hogwarts.

I imagine drunk nights alone in the dorm where things escalate from Sirius going on about his favorite bands, to locking the door so they can make some questionable choices.

However, I don’t see anything progressing after the Whomping Willow incident. They still love each other as friends, but something had to break between them after that.

the thing for me is, Sirius never got a chance to grow as an adult. His life devolved into hell for what would be a third of his life. Remus spent those 12 years having had his friends, who at that point were his lifeline, ripped away from him in the course of two days.

If they’d had more time together, things could have been different. But for the majority of the time they’re together, Sirius is back in the place he’d spent his childhood trying to run away from. He’s not well, and Remus can’t do anything about it. Neither of them are in a good place, and all I wanted was for them to get to be happy.

So do I ship them? Yes. Do I think they were canonically ever an official ‘thing’? No.

But… that’s what AU’s are for friends!!!

(aka give me all the Sirius and Remus raise Harry AU’s)

writing tip: don’t tell us your character’s backstory. don’t tell us what your character is thinking. don’t tell us what your character is doing. don’t tell us anything. the reader should simply look at a blank page and be suddenly overcome with emotion.

Good tip. I know a lot of writers who cry uncontrollably when they see a blank page, so I’m sure that feeling will translate directly to the reader.
