Hermione really out there being the only student that canonly walked out of a class, huh?

Hermione and Divination is such a Gifted Child moment, though. I felt that moment so hard, like, storming out if that class was an intense wish-fulfillment moment when I was younger, and now that I’m older I feel for her so much.

It’s like, when your entire identity is bound up with always being The Smart One, and you encounter a subject that you’re bad at, it can’t be you, the subject must be defective. And not just in the “heh, this class sux, gonna phone it in” way that the boys approach it. In the “This Class Is Now My Nemesis, It Is Stupid And Everyone Hates It And The Very Subject Is Invalid” way that Hermione reacts.

This reaction, and Hermione’s tantrums when Harry’s better at potions than she is in book 6, are some of the most deeply relatable things about her and I love it. (Not that either action is right, but they’re very human.)
