- lily, for the longest time, dreamt of a fairy tale prince taking her away from all of her issues
- of course, as she grows up, she realizes she actually Dreams of princes and princesses alike
- everytime she gets attached to someone, she has to ask herself if she’s feeling romantically attracted to this person
- she’s romance craved, leading her to enter relationships with no second thoughts (with not always the best results)
- she’s terribly oblivious when it comes to love : “what do you mean they aren’t in love? they’re together!“ and “but why do you think remus and sirius are in love?” “honey they’re holding hands” “they could be holding hands as friends!”
- she’s always upset when the line between romance and friendship isn’t made explicitely clear. the fact that everyone else seems to be able to see it pisses her off even more
- when she finds out about the aromantic Spectrum, she doesn’t want to admit to herself that it’s her
- she’s too terrified of never getting her perfect love story
- but she can only lie to herself for so long, and one night she breaks down and cry and tell her friends that she’s aro-spec and that she’ll never have anyone with her
- as more and more of her friends get paired off, she starts to fear that she will end up alone
- that she will always be that distant friend that people call only to complain about their s.o when they fight, and that you ignore the rest of the time
- and it also means that she won’t be able to have children, and that is unbearable to her
- she feels more terrible than ever before
- until
- she talks to james, who she learns is asexual
- they talk for hours about societal expectations and feeling like a secondary character in everyone else’s love story
- and their friendship starts to evolve into something more, something different
- because finally, lily feels understood
