• He ruffles his hair, not because it makes him feel cool and like a rebel, but because he’s always anxious about passing and he thinks the messiness helps

• Which is also why every time Lily Evans rejects James he overreacts just a little bit, because deep down he’s worried he’s not “enough of a guy” for her or that she doesn’t want to be with him because he’s trans
