it happened a few months after sirius ran away from his house. so he was more and more edgy and irritable and he wants to prove the world he still has control over things. so he is more and more demanding and the marauders don’t know how to handle him anymore.
so when snape appears to pay more and more attention to remus, and pushes the right buttons ( “i bet he only dates you bc no one else would love a monster like him” and stuffs ) he impulsively tell him how to get past the tree. he doesn’t exactly know what he expects from this, but he feels better about things for a second.
until he realizes what he had done.
he wants to run to the willow to stop snape but he sees james first. he tells him everything and james 1- punches him. 2- forbides him to come near remus or snape 3- runs to the willow
he saves snape, and change to a deer to protect moony from himself. then he gets him to the infirmary, tells peter everything, makes sure sirius won’t try to come in, and waits for his friend to wake up.
remus goes through a lot of steps after this. at first he blames himself for not listening to his boyfriend’s issues, then he is terribly vulnerable and nearly panics everytime he only sees sirius ( which forces sirius to sleep elsewhere than the dorms, when he sleeps ). then he is angry at the entire world, snapping at everyone.
and finally, one day, he comes across sirius in the great hall. they literally haven’t talked for two months after what happened. and sirius is drunk and he starts to cry when he sees remus about how much of an asshole he is. and remus doesn’t know what to do, but strangely he isn’t angry or panicked. he feels sorry for sirius, and he wants to make him feel better.
so he takes sirius by the hand, and leads him to the dorm and put him into bed to sleep, and then kisses his forehead before to go.
there it is, i have much more hcs about it but i would need a several chapters fic to write them all. which i might write one day. but not rn
