pssstt. what’re your wolfstar raising harry headcannons?

GAHHH I HAVE MANY FEELS!

– It’s really tough at first.

– Obviously because neither of them have ever been parents before and because they are both mourning Lily and James.

– But also there is a lot of mixed feelings between the two of them directly following the war. Of course they both know now that it wasn’t either of them that betrayed everyone, but they had said and done such terrible things to each other over the last year or so and their relationship was basically done until Sirius found himself with custody of Harry.

– Remus was away on a mission when James and Lily were killed and he returned home as soon as he heard, only to find Sirius and Harry sitting on the sofa.

– “I can’t do this on my own, Remus. James and Lily would have wanted us to do it together.” 

– “Fine. But I’m doing it for Harry. Not for you.” 

– They argue about nearly everything. 

– “Sirius, left over chinese food isn’t breakfast for a one year old! It’s not breakfast for a 22 year old either-” 

“You think I don’t know you gave him chocolate last night when he was suppose to be asleep, Remus? It was all over his pajamas. And don’t tell me what I can and can’t eat.” 

– And Harry cries a lot more than he use to when they would babysit and he asks for James and Lily all the time and he’s impossible to get to go to sleep these days. 

– One night Remus wakes up to Harry crying and he goes into the baby’s room and picks him up, trying to get him to go back to sleep. 

– Nothing is working.

– Then Sirius comes in. “Here, give him to me.” 

 “I can handle it, Sirius.” 

“I didn’t say you couldn’t. But the full moon is tomorrow and you need rest. I’ll take care of Harry, you sleep.” 

 “I can’t sleep anyway…” 

– So they stay up together, telling Harry stories about their days at school and his mother and father and they end up genuinely laughing together for the first time in probably about a year.

– And Harry falls asleep.

– So they put him back to bed, but they stay up to talk and they end up apologizing for the way they’ve acted towards each other. 

– “You really should go get some sleep, Moony.” Sirius finally says around three in the morning. They are sitting on the sofa in the living room and somewhere along the line Remus’ head ended up on Sirius’ shoulder as he began to find it harder to keep himself up.Sirius’ arm is around him and his fingers are gently stroking up and down his arm and it feels so warm and right again.

 “I probably should…” Remus agrees, but he doesn’t move. “Will you come with me?” They hadn’t slept in the same bed in months. 

“Are you sure?” 

 “…It would probably be easier to raise a child together if we were actually together.” 

– And it is much easier now that they are actually together again. 

– And they are great parents. 

– And Harry grows up happy and loved.

– Even though he has to go visit with Lily’s horrible sister every now and then. 

– But Sirius and Remus terrify Petunia and Vernon so they don’t dare mistreat the boy in any way. 

– EVERYONE LIVES HAPPILY EVER AFTER THE END
