I have a very important question.

So we know that every first year gets standard black robes and ties before they get sorted, but as soon as they are sorted, how and when do they get their house ties and robes? Is it passed out that night before they got to their dorms? Or is it like a thing where the robes are pre-ordered with a shit ton of every size?

I guess that makes sense. I’m rewatching the movies and this is the first time I’ve thought about it, and I can’t get the thought out of my head. I wonder what kind of magic they’d have to use for it, or what spell.

i sound like a nerd but i think a spell that change colors was mentionned once in the books ? ( not sure tho ) it would be easy to “program” it to change two colours when a word ( the house name ) is pronounced by the sorting hat.
