Tw: Anxiety attacks

• Remus had anxiety as a kid
• Even before he was bit, he rarely hung out with others because of his social anxiety
•  On the train, he dreaded having to join a compartment 
• So he sat by himself 
• Until three loud boys joined him
•  He felt a panic attack take place 
• Merlin what if they think I’m a freak
  
•  What if they discover I’m a monster
•  He was surprised when they actually seemed to like him 
•  When he walked up to the sorting hat, he was a bundle of nerves
•  The only thing that stopped him from hyperventilating was Sirius’ encouraging smile
• Remus bravely marched forward and sat on the stool
• He was shocked that he was placed in Gryffindor
• The house of the brave?? He freaks out around other people??
• Years later when he asked Dumbledore, Dumbledore kindly smiled and pointed out that not everyone has to always be brave
• That first week was horrible
• He had nightmares constantly and felt more alone than ever
• He rarely slept
• He rarely ate
• He was a walking skeleton
• Sirius, who he was closest to, was worried
• After discovering Remus had nightmares, the two would sleep together, for Sirius had them too
• Very rarely would the marauders wake up and find Sirius and Remus in separate beds
• Right before the full moon, Remus would have panic attacks frequently
• His social anxiety flared up and he hyperventilated around others
• Sirius quickly picked up on this and made sure to give Remus plenty of space and would try to draw others away too
• Sirius always carried chocolate in his pocket for when Remus had a panic attack
• After The Prank, Remus had his first panic attack and was alone
• When he felt the signs of a panic attack, he looked to tell Sirius
• But Sirius wasn’t there
• Remus had never felt so alone
• Sirius somehow found out, and made sure Prongs knew what to look for if Remus had a panic attack and made sure he always carried chocolate
• Even if he couldn’t help his Moony, he’d make sure someone did
• When the two reconciled, the first thing Sirius did was give Moony chocolate, because he knew the anxiety would flare up with a talk like this
• Sirius was always there for Remus when he was needed

seriously, sirius looking after remus from afar after the prank is one of my favorite thing in this ship
